Bibliotekstatistikken er hentet fra de nasjonale folkebibliotekstatistikkene fra Nasjonalbiblioteket. Noen bibliotek har utvalgt statistikk fra 1993-2004, dette stammer fra publikasjoner fra Statens bibliotektilsyn og ABM-skrift.
Statistikken fra tredjeparts leverandører er hentet fra leverandørens egen statistikkportal.
BibStat er utviklet og driftes av Vestfold og Telemark fylkesbibliotek. Kontaktperson: Trygve Kikut. BibStat videreutvikles i nært samarbeid med prosjekt Digin som har fått utviklingsmidler fra Nasjonalbiblioteket.
